We envision this symposium as a
venue to explore the interface between development and evolution from the
perspective of insect biology. We hope to bring together (on the
podium, in the audience, throughout the conference and at this web site)
- and facilitate a dialog among - entomologists with a wide range of perspectives
and expertise in insect biology. Towards that end, each of the speaker's
pages will allow for an ongoing dialog among entomologists interested in
Evo-Devo. At the conclusion of the symposium, we will transcribe
the question-and-answer sessions from each talk, and include a comments
box at the bottom of each of the speaker's pages to extend the dialog beyond
the 30 minute speaker time limit. In so doing, we hope to include
the perspectives of interested individuals who did not have the opportunity
to attend the symposium in Brasil. Ideally, this site will provide
for a free exchanges of ideas, represent a spring-board for collaborations
among disparate entomologists (with respect to background, approach and
geography), and provide a forum for developing a generalized research program
for this relatively young and extremely exciting field.
